When my family and I planned our December trip to Orlando, we had one goal in mind: to make the most of our time at Disney World while staying at a hotel that was comfortable, convenient, and packed with perks. After some research, we landed on the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa. As Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members, we were excited to take advantage of the benefits, and let me tell you—this hotel did not disappoint!
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa is a Disney-friendly hotel with a lot to offer, from spacious rooms to complimentary transportation to the parks. But what really stood out were the little touches, like the Aveda toiletries in the bathroom and the complimentary breakfast at the on-site American Kitchen restaurant.
This hotel has an interesting backstory—it used to be the B Resort and Spa but is now officially a Renaissance property under Marriott. Despite its 3.6-star rating on Google (likely lingering from its previous reputation), our stay was nothing short of pleasant. If you’re considering this hotel for your next Orlando trip, here’s everything you need to know!

First Impressions: Early Check-In and a Warm Welcome

One of the best perks of being a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member is early check-in, and we were thrilled to take advantage of it. We arrived at the hotel around noon, and our room was ready for us—a huge win after an early morning flight. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
As we walked through the lobby, we couldn’t help but notice the modern, sleek design. It felt fresh and inviting, a far cry from the outdated decor we’d seen in some older Orlando hotels. The Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa has only been under Marriott’s management for a few years, and it shows. The property used to be the B Resort and Spa, but the rebranding has clearly brought some much-needed updates.

The lobby itself is spacious and well-lit, with plenty of seating areas for guests to relax. There’s even a small bar near the entrance, perfect for grabbing a drink after a long day at the parks. We also noticed a souvenir shop tucked away in the corner, which we made a mental note to visit later.
Our Room: Spacious, Comfortable, and Thoughtfully Designed

We stayed in the double Queen Beds room, which was perfect for my family of four. The room was spacious, with plenty of room for my brothers, my dad, and me to move around without feeling cramped. One of the first things I noticed was the couch/sofa near the window—a nice touch that gave us extra seating and a cozy spot to relax after a long day at the parks.

The beds were incredibly comfortable, with soft linens and plenty of pillows. We all slept soundly each night, which is saying something when you’re sharing a room with family! The room also had a mini-fridge, a coffee maker, and a large flat-screen TV, making it feel like a home away from home.

The bathroom was another highlight. It was stocked with Aveda body wash and hand soap, which felt like a luxurious upgrade from the standard hotel toiletries. The shower had great water pressure, and there was plenty of counter space for all our toiletries. I also appreciated the large mirror and the bright lighting, which made getting ready in the morning a breeze.

One thing to note: the room had a work desk with a comfortable chair, which came in handy when I needed to catch up on some emails. There were also plenty of outlets and USB ports, so we could charge all our devices without any hassle.
Dining at American Kitchen: Complimentary Breakfast for Bonvoy Members

One of the standout features of our stay was the complimentary breakfast at the on-site restaurant, American Kitchen. As Marriott Bonvoy members, we were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast each morning, which was a huge perk.
The breakfast Menu had a great variety of options, from fresh fruit and pastries to made-to-order omelets and pancakes. My personal favorite was the Belgian waffles—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfect with a drizzle of maple syrup. The restaurant itself had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff was attentive and friendly.

If you’re not a Bonvoy member, don’t worry—American Kitchen is open to all guests, and the breakfast is worth the splurge. It’s the perfect way to fuel up before a day at the parks.
We also had dinner at American Kitchen one evening, and it did not disappoint. The menu features a mix of American classics and international dishes, so there’s something for everyone. I ordered the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection, while my dad went for the New York strip steak. Both dishes were flavorful and well-portioned, and the service was excellent.
Hotel Amenities: Something for Everyone
The Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa offers a range of amenities to suit every type of traveler. Here’s a breakdown of what we experienced:
The Pool Area: A Relaxing Oasis

The hotel has a beautiful pool area with tiny water fountains that add a touch of whimsy. While we didn’t get to use the pool during our December stay (it was a bit too chilly for us), we did notice a Jacuzzi nearby. Even in the cooler weather, we saw a few brave souls enjoying the warm bubbles—definitely a great option if you’re visiting during the colder months.

The pool itself is surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, making it a great spot to relax and soak up the sun. There’s also a poolside bar where you can grab a refreshing drink or a quick snack.
Indulged Spa: A Haven for Relaxation

The hotel is home to the Indulged Spa, which offers a variety of treatments, from massages to facials. While we didn’t have time to try any services (we were too busy at the theme parks!), the spa looked serene and inviting. If you’re looking to unwind after a long day, this is the place to do it.
Business Center: Perfect for Remote Work

For those who need to stay connected, the hotel has a business center equipped with two computers, a printer, and a spacious meeting room. It’s a great option for business travelers or anyone who needs to get some work done during their stay.

Souvenir Shop: Convenient and Well-Stocked

The hotel’s souvenir shop was a lifesaver for us. Not only did it have the usual Disney-themed souvenirs, but it also stocked snacks, sodas, and other essentials. It’s the perfect spot to grab something you forgot to pack or pick up a last-minute gift.
Gym: Small but Functional

The hotel’s gym is on the smaller side, but it has everything you need for a quick workout. There’s a selection of cardio equipment, like treadmills and ellipticals, as well as some free weights. It’s not the most spacious gym I’ve seen, but it gets the job done. I actually saw one day this tiny gym fully packed with up to seven people at the moment.
Disney-Friendly Perks: Complimentary Transportation

One of the biggest draws of the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa is its status as a Walt Disney World-friendly hotel. The hotel offers complimentary transportation to the Disney Parks, which is a huge perk for families like ours.
That said, you do need to make a reservation to secure a seat on the shuttle, and the schedule can be a bit limited and also you depend a lot on the activites and pacing of how you do the parks in Disney World. We ended up using Uber for most of our trips to the parks, but it was nice to know the option was there. If you’re planning to use the shuttle, be sure to check the schedule and book your spot early.
Marriott Bonvoy Benefits: Points and Platinum Perks

As Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members, we were able to enjoy a number of perks during our stay, including early check-in, complimentary breakfast, and Bonvoy points for our stay. The points add up quickly, especially if you’re a frequent traveler, and they can be redeemed for free nights or upgrades at other Marriott properties.
If you’re not already a Bonvoy member, I highly recommend signing up. The benefits are well worth it, especially if you travel often. I think this is the first time I see a lot of benefits and perks using the Marriott Bonvoy Program including free parking and upgrades to my Dad’s Room which was incredible. Highly recommend this program.
Addressing the 3.6-Star Rating: Our Experience vs. Online Reviews

Before booking our stay, I noticed that the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa has a 3.6-star rating on Google. At first, I was a bit hesitant, but after digging into the reviews, I realized that many of the negative comments seemed to stem from the hotel’s previous incarnation as the B Resort and Spa.
Our experience, however, was overwhelmingly positive. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. While no hotel is perfect, I truly believe that the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa has turned a corner under Marriott’s management.
Final Thoughts: A Hidden Gem Near Disney World

Our stay at the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa was a highlight of our family trip to Orlando. From the spacious double Queen Beds room with Aveda amenities to the complimentary breakfast at American Kitchen, this hotel delivered on comfort and convenience. While we didn’t get to enjoy the pool or spa, the Disney-friendly perks and Marriott Bonvoy benefits made our stay even more special.
If you’re planning a trip to Orlando and want a hotel that’s close to Disney World with plenty of amenities, the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa is a solid choice. Don’t let the 3.6-star rating deter you—our experience was far better than expected! You can also check my ultimate review of another Disney Springs Hotel: The Wyndham Garden.
