Now, onto the main event: the Steak and Eggs. This dish is essentially a brunch version of the iconic Steak Frites, and while it sounded promising, it left us with mixed feelings.

The dish consisted of a steak served with eggs and French fries, a combination that felt a little unusual for brunch. We ordered the steak medium well, but it arrived well done. When we brought this to our server’s attention, he offered us a discount or more steak. We opted for the latter, and the additional steak was finally cooked to our preferred temperature.

What We Liked:

• The flavor of the steak: well-seasoned and juicy (once it was cooked correctly).
• The crispy fries: perfectly salted and golden.
• The generous portion size: definitely enough to share.

What We Didn’t Like:

• The overcooked steak: a letdown, especially given the restaurant’s reputation.
• The unusual combination: steak and eggs felt out of place on a brunch menu.

Our Thoughts: While the steak was flavorful and the fries were crispy, the dish didn’t quite live up to the hype surrounding the original Steak Frites. The addition of eggs felt unnecessary, and the overcooked steak was a letdown.

The Service: A Major Letdown

Unfortunately, the service during our visit was a significant disappointment. Our server, a gentleman of Indian ethnicity, seemed disengaged and uninterested in providing a positive dining experience. Despite there being only three tables occupied in our section, the service was slow and inattentive.

There were multiple instances where our server disappeared for 15 minutes or more, leaving us waiting for simple requests like refills or the check. On one occasion, we had to go looking for him, only to find him chatting and laughing with his colleagues. When we asked for more soda or addressed the issue with the steak, he seemed visibly annoyed and unprofessional.

Our Thoughts: While we don’t believe his ethnicity had any bearing on the quality of service, it’s worth noting that his lack of attentiveness and professionalism significantly impacted our experience. Good service is crucial in a restaurant of this caliber, and unfortunately, it fell short during our visit.

Final Thoughts on Wine Bar George

So, would we recommend Wine Bar George? The answer is a bit complicated.

On one hand, the ambiance is fantastic, the Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites are a must-try, and the Rosé was delightful. The upper-level terrace offers a dining experience that’s hard to beat, especially if you’re visiting Disney Springs.

On the other hand, the brunch menu’s limitations and the disappointing Steak and Eggs left us wanting more. The poor service from our server further marred the experience, making it difficult to fully enjoy our meal.

Our Verdict: While there were glimpses of greatness, our overall experience was underwhelming. We might give Wine Bar George another chance during weekday lunch hours to try the famous Steak Frites, and we’d hope for better service with a different server.

We arrived at the hotel around noon, and our room was ready for us—a huge win after an early morning flight. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.

As we walked through the lobby, we couldn’t help but notice the modern, sleek design. It felt fresh and inviting, a far cry from the outdated decor we’d seen in some older Orlando hotels. The Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa has only been under Marriott’s management for a few years, and it shows. The property used to be the B Resort and Spa, but the rebranding has clearly brought some much-needed updates.

The lobby itself is spacious and well-lit, with plenty of seating areas for guests to relax. There’s even a small bar near the entrance, perfect for grabbing a drink after a long day at the parks. Gym: Small but Functional

The hotel’s gym is on the smaller side, but it has everything you need for a quick workout. There’s a selection of cardio equipment, like treadmills and ellipticals, as well as some free weights. It’s not the most spacious gym I’ve seen, but it gets the job done. I actually saw one day this tiny gym fully packed with up to seven people at the moment.

Disney-Friendly Perks: Complimentary Transportation

One of the biggest draws of the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa is its status as a Walt Disney World-friendly hotel. The hotel offers complimentary transportation to the Disney Parks, which is a huge perk for families like ours.

That said, you do need to make a reservation to secure a seat on the shuttle, and the schedule can be a bit limited and also you depend a lot on the activites and pacing of how you do the parks in Disney World. We ended up using Uber for most of our trips to the parks, but it was nice to know the option was there. If you’re planning to use the shuttle, be sure to check the schedule and book your spot early.

Marriott Bonvoy Benefits: Points and Platinum Perks

As Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members, we were able to enjoy a number of perks during our stay, including early check-in, complimentary breakfast, and Bonvoy points for our stay. The points add up quickly, especially if you’re a frequent traveler, and they can be redeemed for free nights or upgrades at other Marriott properties.

If you’re not already a Bonvoy member, I highly recommend signing up. The benefits are well worth it, especially if you travel often. I think this is the first time I see a lot of benefits and perks using the Marriott Bonvoy Program including free parking and upgrades to my Dad’s Room which was incredible. Addressing the 3.6-Star Rating: Our Experience vs. Online Reviews

Before booking our stay, I noticed that the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa has a 3.6-star rating on Google. At first, I was a bit hesitant, but after digging into the reviews, I realized that many of the negative comments seemed to stem from the hotel’s previous incarnation as the B Resort and Spa.

Our experience, however, was overwhelmingly positive. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. While no hotel is perfect, I truly believe that the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa has turned a corner under Marriott’s management.

Unfortunately, with dinner prices soaring to $450 for a party of three, the experience falls drastically short of expectations.

While STK Orlando promises an upscale dining experience, our recent visit revealed significant issues with both service quality and food preparation that deserve a thorough examination. Let’s delve into a comprehensive review of what this establishment offers, so you can make an informed decision about your dining choices at Disney Springs.

Location and Atmosphere

STK Orlando occupies a prime location within Disney Springs’ vibrant dining district. The restaurant’s exterior features a sleek, modern design that immediately catches the eye, standing out among the surrounding establishments with its contemporary architecture and prominent signage.

Upon entering, guests are greeted by the restaurant’s signature design elements – a modern, chic interior dominated by purple accent lighting that creates an unmistakable ambiance. The space attempts to blend traditional steakhouse elements with a more contemporary lounge atmosphere, featuring a mix of intimate booth seating and open dining areas.

The interior design incorporates dark woods, leather upholstery, and metallic accents, creating what aims to be a sophisticated dining environment. A central bar area serves as a focal point, while the dining room is arranged in tiers, theoretically offering good visibility and atmosphere from any seat in the house.

The restaurant also features an outdoor seating area, providing views of Disney Springs’ waterfront and bustling promenade. While the atmosphere strives for upscale dining, the execution sometimes feels forced, with the loud music and crowded spaces occasionally detracting from what should be a refined dining experience.

Menu Highlights and Signature Dishes

Bread Service

Our experience began with the bread service, which unfortunately set a concerning tone for the meal. After a 30-minute wait – an unusually long time for what should be a prompt starter – we were presented with their signature bread basket. While visually appealing, the bread arrived cold, accompanied by an aioli that failed to impress anyone at our table. This extensive wait time for a basic starter course raised early red flags about the service efficiency.

Appetizers

The appetizer menu includes the classic Fried Calamari, prepared in a traditional style with a light, crispy coating and served with marinara sauce. While this dish represents a safe choice among the starters, it’s a standard preparation that doesn’t particularly stand out from what you’d find at other restaurants in the area. The execution is competent but unremarkable, offering little to distinguish it from similar offerings at more modestly priced establishments.

Pasta Selection

One of the few bright spots in our dining experience was the mushroom pasta dish. This proved to be a surprisingly delightful option, featuring perfectly cooked pasta combined with a rich, flavorful mushroom sauce. The portion size was generous enough to share, and the execution of this dish demonstrated what the kitchen is capable of when at its best. When we raised this issue with management, they attempted to explain it away as a result of the aging process. However, as someone familiar with aged steaks, including properly prepared Delmonico cuts, this explanation fell flat. The taste was clearly indicative of improper aging or storage rather than the complex, developed flavors one expects from a properly aged steak.

The menu offers various cuts and preparation options, with the kitchen capable of accommodating different temperature preferences and providing a selection of signature sauces and toppings. However, our experience with the Delmonico raises serious concerns about the consistent quality of their steak program and the overall attention to detail in the kitchen.

Side Dishes: Bacon Mac & Cheese

Our selection of the Bacon Mac and Cheese as a side dish continued the evening’s pattern of disappointment. Despite being a steakhouse classic that typically offers rich, comforting flavors, STK Orlando’s version was surprisingly bland and forgettable. The dish lacked the creamy richness one expects from a proper mac and cheese, while the bacon failed to provide any meaningful impact on the overall flavor. At these premium prices, even a basic side dish should deliver more in terms of taste and execution. The lackluster preparation of this steakhouse staple further reinforced our concerns about the kitchen’s attention to detail.

Dessert Menu

We concluded our meal with the strawberry cheesecake, which was acceptable but unremarkable. While the presentation was adequate, the flavor and texture were nothing beyond what you might find at any standard restaurant. The dessert menu features other classic steakhouse dessert options, but the cheesecake’s merely adequate execution didn’t do much to salvage the overall dining experience. For a restaurant positioning itself in the premium category, the dessert offerings should deliver more memorable flavors and presentations.

Pricing and Value Proposition

STK Orlando positions itself firmly in the premium dining category, with prices that place it among the most expensive restaurants at Disney Springs. Our dinner for three people totaled approximately $450, a price point that sets extremely high expectations for both food quality and service. The pricing structure at STK Orlando reflects its positioning as a high-end steakhouse, with signature steaks ranging from $50 for basic cuts to an impressive $150 for premium selections and specialty cuts. Appetizers command premium prices as well, typically falling between $20 and $30, which places them on par with other luxury dining establishments in the Disney area.

The side dish offerings, while meant to be shared family-style, also reflect the upscale pricing strategy, with most options priced between $12 and $25. Dessert selections, including their signature strawberry cheesecake, are priced between $12 and $18, again aligning with the restaurant’s luxury positioning. The wine list is particularly extensive, featuring bottles that start at $60 and climb dramatically into the hundreds of dollars, with some premium selections reaching well beyond that range.

When comparing these prices to other high-end steakhouses in Walt Disney World, such as Yachtsman Steakhouse or Le Cellier, STK Orlando’s value proposition becomes particularly questionable. While the pricing is similar to these established Disney steakhouses, the quality of food and service we experienced fell far short of justifying these premium prices. The substantial investment required for a meal at STK Orlando creates an expectation of excellence that, in our experience, the restaurant failed to meet on multiple levels.

Service Experience

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our visit, alongside the food quality issues, was the service experience. From the moment we were seated, our server displayed a noticeably rushed and disinterested attitude throughout the meal, creating an atmosphere that felt entirely inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. The initial interaction set a concerning tone that unfortunately persisted throughout our entire dining experience.

The service issues began with the extraordinarily long wait times for basic items, particularly the bread service, which took an inexplicable 30 minutes to arrive at our table. Throughout the meal, our server’s interactions were minimal and perfunctory, lacking the attention to detail and engagement one expects from a high-end dining establishment. The level of attentiveness was far below what you’d expect from a restaurant charging premium prices.

The situation reached its nadir when our server abruptly disappeared before the conclusion of our meal, without any explanation or handoff to another staff member. We were left confused when a different server appeared to handle our check, with no acknowledgment of the original server’s departure. This lack of professional courtesy and basic service protocol was shocking for a restaurant of STK Orlando’s purported caliber.

When we attempted to address these concerns with management, particularly regarding our server’s unexpected disappearance and the quality of the Delmonico steak, we were met with a disappointingly defensive response rather than a genuine attempt to understand and address our concerns. The manager’s explanation about the steak’s quality issues being related to the aging process demonstrated either a concerning lack of understanding about proper meat preparation or an unwillingness to acknowledge legitimate customer concerns.

This combination of inattentive service, unprofessional behavior, and dismissive management response created an atmosphere that fell far short of the refined dining experience one expects when paying premium prices at a high-end steakhouse. The service issues we encountered weren’t merely minor oversights but fundamental failures in hospitality that significantly impacted our overall dining experience.

Final Thoughs about STK Steakhouse

After our thoroughly disappointing experience at STK Orlando, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment, despite its prime Disney Springs location. With a final bill of $450 for three people, the combination of poor service, questionable food quality – particularly the Delmonico steak – and overall lackluster experience makes it difficult to justify the premium pricing.

Instead, I strongly recommend considering other exceptional steakhouse options within Walt Disney World. The Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort offers consistently outstanding cuts and impeccable service in an elegant setting. Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion provides a superior dining experience with their famous pretzel bread and perfectly prepared steaks. These alternatives, while still in the premium price range, deliver the quality and service one expects from a high-end steakhouse experience. And let’s not forget that there is even a Michelin Star Steakhouse located on Disney Property: CAPA Steakhouse inside the Four Seasons Orlando Resort, that si the best steakhouse on Disney Property.

Remember, when visiting Walt Disney World, your dining budget is better spent at establishments with proven track records of excellence rather than risking a disappointing meal at STK Orlando. The high prices and ambitious atmosphere simply cannot compensate for the fundamental issues with food quality and service we encountered.

I’ve always loved space and Disney, so hearing about Space 220 was exciting. It’s a new dining spot at EPCOT that takes you on a space journey. You’ll feel like you’re 220 miles above Earth, dining at the Centauri Space Station.Space tourism is getting popular, thanks to SpaceX and Blue Origin. But Space 220 lets you taste the future of space travel and dining.

Space 220 can fit over 350 guests, making it a top spot at Disney World. When it first opened, guests waited up to five hours to get in. This shows how much people love the unique dining experience it offers.

I was super excited to try Space 220. I wondered what amazing food and space sights awaited me. Let me tell you all about my adventure at EPCOT’s Space 220 restaurant.

Embarking on a Culinary Journey at Space 220

When I walked into the Departure Lounge at Space 220, I felt like I was in a world of wonder. The staff welcomed me with a friendly smile and gave me a Boarding Pass for the stellarvator. This dining adventure, starting in October 2021, takes guests on a memorable trip to the Centauri Space Station, 220 miles above Epcot.

The Centauri Space Station Experience

The Centauri Space Station is a wonder of space exploration and interstellar missions. As I got ready to board the stellarvator, I felt thrilled and eager. The space station offers a unique dining experience. It blends space themes with delicious food for space fans and food lovers.

Boarding the Stellarvator

My adventure started when I entered the stellarvator, a space elevator to the Centauri Space Station. It felt like a thrilling theme park ride, a special part of a Disney dining experience. As we went up, Epcot, Florida, and Earth disappeared below. The stars and galaxy above made me feel amazed and excited for the food journey ahead at the space station.

The Immersive Dining Room

When I walked into Space 220, I was struck by the stunning view of space all around me. The big windows showed the vastness of space, making me feel like I was far from Earth. The design of the restaurant was amazing, with every part adding to the futuristic feel.

Celestial Views and Astronaut Encounters

At Space 220, I saw incredible views of planets, stars, and even meteors. The windows showed a changing view of the cosmos. Sometimes, astronauts floated by, adding excitement to the meal.

Futuristic Ambiance and Decor

The vibe at Space 220 was unique. It mixed futuristic looks with elegance. The furniture was modern, and the lights looked like stars in the distance. There was even space lettuce, a cool touch.

The dining area was well-designed, with views from every seat. Whether I was up high or down low, I felt like I was in space. The sounds and music made it a full experience, leaving me amazed by the effort put into the meal.

Space 220’s Out-of-This-World Menu

As I sat down at Space 220, I looked over the prix fixe menu. It had a great selection of appetizers, main dishes, and sweets. The lunch menu was $55 for adults and included one appetizer and one main dish. The dinner menu was $79 and came with a sweet dessert.

The appetizers looked amazing, with choices like Big Bang Burrata and Starry Calamari. For the main course, I had to choose between Slow Rotation Short Rib and Roasted Free-range Chicken. The sweets, like Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake, sounded perfect for dessert.

The kids’ menu was $29 and had options like Space-Ghetti and Galactic Salmon. It came with a dessert and a special drink. You could also get a cool Space 220 cup for an extra $3.

Looking at the menu, I was impressed by the variety and creativity. Each dish seemed to offer something new and tasty. It was clear that the team at Space 220 worked hard to make a memorable dining experience.

Lift-Off Appetizers: Starry Calamari

When I looked at the menu, the Starry Calamari caught my eye. It had fried calamari, Italian cherry peppers, spicy marinara, and roasted pepper citrus aioli. The mix sounded amazing, so I had to try it. When it came out, the calamari was crispy outside and soft inside. The flavors from the cherry peppers and aioli were fantastic.

Star Course Entrée: Flat Iron Steak

I chose the Flat Iron Steak for my main course at Space 220. It came with a tasty coffee space rub, smashed fingerling potatoes, haricot vert, and rich cabernet butter. The steak was a bit dry, but the sides were great.

The Gemini Burger was a hit too. It had beef and pork, smoky provolone cheese, and tangy thousand island dressing. Everyone loved its juiciness and the mix of soft bun and crispy bacon.

Even though I liked my steak, I felt a bit jealous of the other dishes. Next time, I might try the Galactic Miso Salmon or the Gemini Burger to see why they’re so popular.

Supernova Dessert: The Blue Planet Cheesecake

At Space 220, I ended my meal with a “Supernova Sweet” dessert. I picked the Blue Planet cheesecake, which looked amazing. It had a smooth chocolate cheesecake base covered in whipped chocolate ganache, like a planet’s clouds. The top was sprinkled with white chocolate crunchy pearls, like stars in space.

My first bite was a mix of rich chocolate cheesecake and creamy ganache. The cheesecake was silky, and the cookie crumbs added a nice crunch. Chocolate sauce and dark chocolate shards made it look like a work of art.

But I couldn’t stop looking at the other desserts at Space 220. The carrot cake seemed like a cozy choice, with its moist layers and creamy frosting. The chocolate ganache also appeared in the chocolate cheesecake, promising a rich taste. With so many delicious options, choosing a dessert at Space 220 was hard.

Atmospheric Spirits and Zero Proof Sippers

Space 220 has a great selection of cosmic cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. The bar menu offers a range of drinks that take you to another world of taste. Drinks like The Big Tang and the celestial cosmopolitan blend flavors that feel like space travel.

The Big Tang is a top choice on the menu. It’s made with Avion Silver, Grand Marnier, tangy agave nectar, grapefruit, and strawberry. This drink is sweet and tangy, served with astronaut ice cream for fun.

Some might find the drinks a bit sweet. But they’re a great treat at Space 220.

Moon Rocks and Lightyear Lemonade

For those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, Space 220 has many options. The Moon Rocks sipper is perfect for guests under 21. It’s a mix of coconut, blue cotton candy syrup, lemonade, moon dust, and moon rocks. It’s fun for both kids and adults.

The Lightyear Lemonade is another hit. It’s a refreshing drink that brings the feel of space exploration to life with its bright colors and space-themed garnishes.

The Space 220 Lounge Experience

Looking to enjoy the vibe of Space 220 but don’t want to spend a lot? The lounge is a great choice. It has amazing views and comfy chairs, making it a flexible and affordable place to eat. You can try a variety of tasty appetizer-sized dishes, perfect for sharing or a light meal.

During my visit, I tried some of the lounge’s best dishes. The blue moon cauliflower was a hit with its bright color and great taste. The short rib sliders were also amazing, with white cheddar cheese, roasted pepper citrus aioli, lettuce, tomato, and butter pickles. Don’t miss the astro deviled eggs, which add a fun twist to a classic dish with free-range eggs, maple glazed bacon, scallion, pickled shallots, and micro greens.

The entrance at Space 220 could be more organized, but the experience was truly special. The celestial cocktails, around $17 each, added a magical touch to our meal. Enjoying every bite and sip, I was amazed by the lounge’s ambiance and quality. Even with Hurricane Ian affecting our plans, this meal was a wonderful surprise, leaving me wanting to come back for more.

Final Thoughts on my Space 220 Experience

My visit to Space 220 was an amazing journey that went beyond what I hoped for. As soon as I entered the Centauri Space Station, I felt like I was in a futuristic world. The space-themed restaurant’s attention to detail was stunning, making the whole place both captivating and unforgettable.

The food was good but not the best compared to Disney’s top restaurants. Yet, the unique setting and creative menu make it a great choice for special events or for those who love space. The lunch and dinner menus have a variety of dishes that suit different tastes, but they come at a higher cost.

Even though the food quality has dropped a bit since it opened, the immersive experience and the space-like feel are still big draws. For anyone looking for a dining adventure that mixes culinary creativity with a space theme, Space 220 is a top spot at Epcot.
